Child Care
Now that you have your baby, what are you planning on doing for child care? Everyone needs some type of child care, whether it's for work or just for an occasional date with your spouse or friends. Motherhood is a demanding more-than-full-time job, and you are entitled to some time off. Even if you're not quite ready yet, now is the time to prepare.

Postpartum Bleeding

After nine months of not having a period, it is almost shocking to see all of the blood during the first week postpartum. Postpartum bleeding is like a VERY heavy period. The first day or two, you may also pass rather large clots. Clots should not be larger than a golf ball. If you are passing larger clots or if you are feeling anxious about the level of bleeding, consult your doctor. From day 2-7, you will just be bleeding like you would with a heavy period. By day 10, it will have faded to pink, eventually disappearing all together.

You must use pads, NOT TAMPONS, during this postpartum bleeding time. Before you go into labor, get some heavy duty maxi pads. Thin maxi pads are best. If you had an episiotomy or tearing, be sure to change your pad every four hours to prevent infection.
