Treatment Cool your baby off by removing some of his clothes. Move him into a cool room or shady spot. Bathe your child in a tepid bath or rub cool washcloths on the affected area. Be sure to let the affected skin air dry if possible. To prevent heat rash in the future, dress your child in loose fitting clothes and layer, layer, layer! You can remove as many layers as you need according to the temperature of the room. Use cornstarch powder on areas prone to heat rash.
